This song was inspired and is for the people I have known going through the loss of memory that can accompany the process of aging.

The story line refers to a couple who have spent all of their adult lives together, creating memories for 50 years or more, only for one to begin to lose hold of those memories.

Our memories are much of who we are. Our history, both personal and communal of course. But also our language, knowledge and any wisdom we may have gained through the years. I dare say that at any given moment, the vast majority of who we are consists of memory (either real or created; good or bad), a tiny portion our present, and just a smidgen of the possibility for future memories.

To remember and be remembered is at the heart of existence.
