about

Written for the melodrama, Bushwhacked, performed in Edwards, NY. The bad guy got his come-uppance. The good guy got the girl. All was as it should be.

lyrics

Wine women and song
Have made me what I am
I could have dined with Presidents
Instead of cold beans from a can

My constant drinking all night long
Has led me far astray
From the once bright blossom of my youth
Into the wilting light of day

Yodele…..

I’m now as dried up as a prune
My virtue lost long ago
I once ate sweets from June to June
But now am chewing crow

My lifestyle choices point the way
To my end up on boot hill
Until that day I’m here to stay
To wallow in my swill

Yodele…..

Behold the beauty of the this world
Petunias and pansies
I see it all from where I hang
A swinging in the breeze

One day my bones beside the road
Vultures to pick them clean
My entrails strung like popcorn strings
Amongst the Christmas trees

Yodele…..

My eyeballs squished
My fingers broke
My soul to burn in hell
I will not mind the infernal heat
But sure will hate the smell

Of burning flesh
And sins exposed
And wailing all night long
For folks who’ve been dead for many a year
They sure can carry on.

Yodele……

about

Scott Shipley New York

Hails from the northernmost reaches of NY. It's called the North Country and it's beautiful. Any more north and we'd be in Canada. Which is nice too.
