Don't I 04:48
Some consolation, As cold as a stone It’s a hard realization When you find that there’s no way home It’s a mark of creation That cuts to the bone Don’t I, Don’t I Know? Light as a feather As real as the day Don’t try to be too clever Cause It’ll up and blow you away Its Like chewing on leather Dare I say? Don’t I, Don’t I Know? Broken and battered Wild eyed and strange All that ever mattered Has gone and moved out of range Don’t you feel too flattered Though you’re the harbinger of change Don’t I, Don’t I Know?

Family Photo 03:42
Everybody gather round now Its time to stand for the camera Short in front tall in back Get yourselves together Smile your brightest smile You looking good Lets take one for the ages Hold still open up your eyes Lets fill up these pages Picture this my frame of mind Staring out across this fault line Straighten your hair tuck in your shirt Could everyone please pay attention Try to sit still keep your hands to yourself Don't make me say that again Move a little to the left Now over to the right Lets try a different spot to get the perfect light See if you can cover up your fear and apprehension Picture this my frame of mind Staring out across this fault line Maybe you’re up for something Just a little bit crazy How bout we stand inside this dumpster While dancing with daisies We could be a little cryptic Try to make ourselves look cool Borrow a pinch of Dada a splash of modern a bit of the Bauhaus school We could take a picture of ourselves Taking a picture of ourselves taking a picture of ourselves Picture this my frame of mind Staring out across this fault line Everybody gather round now Its time to stand for the camera

Boston 04:15
They got beans in Boston As the night unfolds You could be my darling Haunt the harbor shoals Watch the ships returning The overburdened holds Paint the town till daylight Shades of green and gold We could go to Boston And look for Freedom’s soul Got a mind for moving Wherever can we go? Don’t deny the proven Take the rail to the know Get to there by morning Wake up to the glow Send our friends a warning Postcards heading home Won’t you be my darling? Though we’re all alone Time to leave this Boston Our memories in tow Not what we expected? That’s just how it goes A bit relieved that somehow You must admit you know This quiet search for solace Leaves us nowhere to go Can you just imagine? We look for Freedom’s soul They got beans in Boston…

On Fire 02:43
Heaven Knows I need my soul To celebrate Stories told Hell reminds me I’ve ways to go See these flames I’m on fire Cast a shadow Cast a stone See those waves Growing old You must remind me There are places to go See these flames I’m on fire Hope to see you Feed my soul And celebrate As nights unfold You can remind me where to go Feed these flames I’m on fire

No Tomorrow 04:59
Apocalyptic visions go dancing through our minds Everybody's looking at their own end of times Searching in the tea leaves reading all the signs Get a little thrill from all the fantasies of sorrow Like there’s no tomorrow The holy rapture what a way to go Top 40 rankings You're a star in your own show A top the standings You've earned your right to crow As you leave behind this worldly horror 'Cause there’s no tomorrow Competing visions that the prophets have foretold A split decision, either we’ll burn or we’ll drown or grow cold This fascination with a coming world of strife I just throw up my hands and get on with my life Choose your cataclysm which ever suits you best Science or catechism whatever helps you make some sense What kind of dreaming provides no future tense? With no hope to beg, steel, or borrow When you've no tomorrow

Sunspots 02:41
The weight of truth The soaring of the harmony This trial by fire With a reckoning of shame Cast your doubts To fill your nets to overflowing Falling through Sunspots Spun From Solar flares That light up This sky

Solid lines And foreign relations Crossing Jordans And crosses to bear In the court of public opinions Save your breath You can never win there The world’s not ever waiting for you You fall behind But still you’ve got to Live and love Though hearts will be broken Times will come when that is all you can do You will get pushed and shoved Harsh words will be spoken Keep your head up To see your way through Of all the things you’ll ever feel It’s the hard part of the deal Waiting for that rose to finally bloom Standing trying not to pick it off too soon Waiting for the sun to finally rise The day’s begun your ready to go but there’s still sleep in your eyes First and foremost just settle down Keep on looking even when no one else is around They’ll leave you standing without a goodbye And wondering why you ever bothered to try The world’s not ever waiting for you You fall behind But still you’ve got to Live and love Though hearts will be broken Times will come when that is all you can do You will get pushed and shoved Harsh words will be spoken Keep your head up To see your way through Of all the things you’ll ever feel It’s the hard part of the deal (solo) The world’s not ever waiting for you You fall behind But still you’ve got to Live and love Though hearts will be broken You’ve got to give and take And in time they will heal You may have to push and shove To hear soft words spoken But keep your head up To find what is real Of all the things you’ll ever feel It’s the hard part of the deal Just part of the deal…

Dark Times Faith undermined This fever chills right to the bone When you see at last Even this to shall pass Until then know you’re not alone When lightning goes to ground Hold tightly as the rains pour down When lightning goes to ground I’m here to say Don’t you know we’re still around? Press on Into the raging storm There’s a light above the cloud All told We’ve got enough heat to drown the cold A quiet calming loving sound When lightning goes to ground Hold tightly as the rains pour down When lightning goes to ground I’m here to say Don’t you know we’re still around?

Lonely and Forlorn Thank God the day you were born The eye of the storm Rolling clouds that lead me to morn Simply to state these feelings My soul’s seeking in a song You’re a fresh light Second sight Meaning for life Simply faith Desire we have known Cradle of my life this dog’s bone We travel in style The twists the turns the long open miles Sometime we may lose our patience Frustrated with this song In the middle of any night You can hold me tightly As we celebrate this life and your birthday Right on time Right on Time You take me away Right on time Right on Time You take me away In our own time Blindly following the signs So much to resolve A world a life to involve Keep sending my heart reeling My head reaching for a song There’s always candlelight And this taste for life You drive an easy bargain Right on time Right on Time You take me away Right on time Right on Time You take me away Take Me Away....

about

In 1977, a tiny planet on the outskirts of its galaxy, launched two space probes: Voyager 1 and 2. The stated mission was to study the planets in the outer solar system.

Each probe contains a golden record with pictures and sounds of its people, along with symbolic directions for playing the record, and data detailing the origin planet's location.

The items on the records include: 116 images, a variety of natural sounds (surf, wind, and thunder; animal sounds, including the songs of birds and whales) and musical selections from different cultures and eras, and spoken greetings in fifty-nine languages.

The probes have now completed their initial task, have reached the edge of the solar system, and are making their way into deep space.

As the probes continue into unknown territory they have one final task; to declare to anyone or thing out there, that might be at all interested, that we are Here.

Scott Shipley New York

Hails from the northernmost reaches of NY. It's called the North Country and it's beautiful. Any more north and we'd be in Canada. Which is nice too.
